Women's Counselling Program

No one has the right to abuse you.

We believe that all forms of physical, sexual, verbal or emotional abuse are WRONG.

Counsellors are here to offer support to women dealing with past or present abuse from a boyfriend, husband, or male or female partner.

We provide a confidential, safe and supportive place where women can talk and explore their options. All services in the Women's Counselling program are free.

We do not judge women or tell them what to do.

The Women’s Counselling offers:

  • one-to-one counselling
  • cross-cultural counselling for immigrant, francophone and first nations women
  • support groups with others who have shared similar experiences
  • safety planning
  • referrals to other beneficial services in the community
  • seminars and workshops

Women suffering from abuse often feel bad about themselves, and guilty or ashamed. They may develop eating or sleeping disorders or feel constant fatigue due to tension in the relationship. Many victims of abuse feel depressed, anxious, angry, confused or suicidal.

Children who witness abuse in their homes can be seriously affected. They may feel stressed and afraid. They are at risk of being hurt themselves. They may blame themselves for the violence or feel guilty they can't protect their mother. When they grow up, they may continue the cycle of violence.

Now is the time to ask for help.

No one deserves to be abused.

Help is just a phone call away.

Service is available in Sydenham, Verona and Kingston
